Using your strengths in your business

Uncategorized Sep 11, 2018

Today I want to touch on the business you are building and if it is aligned with YOU and what you are good at. I see a lot of entrepreneurs who are modeling what the big names in their space are doing. But what you don't see is that there is a ton of stuff going on behind the scenes of that persons business.  Including the type of business that entrepreneur is striving for (their vision) and what their strengths are that are making that business what it is.

Our strengths can sometimes be really hard to put into words, and for me it was actually hard to recognize that things that I did were my strengths.

Using the really common metaphor... a fish can’t tell they are in water. In this case, that means that sometimes when you are really good at things, you just kind of assume that other people are also good at those things.

If you are struggling with Identifying which strengths you have and how you can create a business to support that there are a couple of tools at your disposal.

1) Pay attention to what people have told you that you are good at in the past, have any of those really resonated with you? What do you want to be known for?

2) Strengthsfinders

  • StrengthsFinders -  My top 5 strengths are: Strategic, Futuristic, Ideation, Individualization and Significance

So when thinking how can I create and run a business that is utilizing my unique strengths... Well I help service based business owners map out an individualized business strategy based on their income goals to create the future business and life that they want!

This feels SO ALIGNED for me because I am doing what I am uniquely qualified to do.

3) Kolbe A Index: This gives you a description in your natural strength for each of the four action modes: Fact Finder, Follow Thru, Quick Start and Implementor.

4) Myers Briggs which gives you an insight to your preferred way to look at things based on 8 personality preferences. I am on the bubble for two of these preferences and don’t necessarily use this one but some people swear by it.

So using your strengths what does your business look like? Has it looking at it from this perspective changed your trajectory at all? If yes, great, pivot and make it more aligned, if it hasn’t awesome! YOU are building a business you feel aligned with!

What are you uniquely qualified to do? Are you doing those things in your business? Or are there opportunities to incorporate these strengths into your business.
