Personal Development is not One Size Fits All

Are you on that personal development train? 

I sure am. All aboard! WOOT WOOT!

And during my personal development work that I have been doing over the past couple of years I find it so interesting that most of the self helpery and personal development books are  touted as ‘one size fits all’. 

But unless you are the sisterhood of the traveling pants.. Not very many things are one size fits all. 

The following are what I would deem to be universally good advice, I am sure there are more, but this is what comes to mind: 

• Move your body 
• Do something you love 
• Love yourself

But HOW you do each of those things can look very different. 

Not everyone needs to do a low carb diet and go to crossfit to take care of their bodies, just like not everyone would go about finding something they love by taking the same assessment. 

Self love and self care isn’t the same for everyone, some may like luxurious bubble baths, while others (me) enjoy long walks down the Barnes and Noble travel section. 

The more we decondition from what we are told is 'universally good advice' and tune into what works for our minds, bodies, souls and businesses the better we will be able to serve the world and those around us. 

My favorite tool to get this deconditioned and customized understanding of myself and my clients is Human Design. It is a little woo, but it is the only thing that I have found that breaks down who you are, how you are meant to interact with the world and can take customized actionable steps to move your business forward for YOU. It is the furthest thing from cookie cutter advice. 

It is one of the things that I talk about on my Corporate Transition calls because once you unlock this piece we can start to put together an offering, business and strategy that is aligned with who you are, what you value and how you best interact with those around you versus what you think is the 'best' strategy.
